Concept Contributor: Different Desert Design, and West coast team goes Soccer

Howdy everyone Alan here, today we got two concept made by Ricky, it's been awhile since I post some concept contributor so let's get to it.

Arizona Coyotes Concept
Up points: For a Buffaslug style template being used for both home, and road this one really works for me. Adding the shoulder yoke was a nice touch. Lastly love the alternate jersey!
Down points: On both home, road, and alternate I felt like the front numbers made the front jerseys look too cluttered to my mind. The leaping coyote is alright but it doesn't fit both home and road jerseys.

Anaheim Ducks Soccer Concept
Up points: The dark uniform is nice! The stripes is well placed that doesn't interfere with the numbers, and sponsor logo.
Down points: The white uniform is alright but I felt it belongs in the alternate. I feel that the white should have the same treatment as the dark uniform.

Well there go this post is done! come over here Sunday for my concept, til then later.

Concept contributor: Fast lane to the Playoffs!

Howdy everyone, Alan here for my first post of April, and the last day of the NHL season. Today we got a concept from a contributor, now I know you’re thinking, is it from Ricky? It’s it from Jake? No! This one came from Jared L. one of rising concept artist seen from HJC. This concept he send to me base on one of my all-time favorite Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic SatAM! Let’s check it out shall we.

Up points: This jersey has Stadium Series with 90’s vibe written all over it. The numbers, and nameplate fonts is different but fits the theme very fine. Like the design of the jersey. Lastly love the logo period.

Down points: The TV numbers, the nameplate, and the “C” doesn't have the same trim treatment as the numbers on the back of the jersey. I feel like the front numbers doesn't need to be there. The socks I’m not a fan of vertical stripes, I feel the stripes should be horizontal. The pants colors doesn't match with the jersey, I prefer the pants blue with red, grey, and lime green stripes down the side of the pants. Some lines are on top of the outer lines of the jersey. Lastly even thou I like the design but the yokes on the back of the jersey does not match with the yoke on the front.

Overall: Good concept with some issues with the stitching, stripes, and the equipment we’ll get our self a winner.

Well today post is done, there will be no more concepts to be posted until the end of this year NHL playoffs. Until then, later see you all here again for the “Playoff Pickz!”

Lone Contributor: A shocking post

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. It's been over a month since the last time I post anything here on this site, I admit that I have lack the feel of posting stuff on this site, mainly with a lot stuff  I've been busy outside the concept world so much that every time when the days is done I don't got anything left in me to do. So I pretty much got lazy in making concepts. I mean the last time I made a concept from scratch was back in November, until late in February a contest from good old HJC that got me back on track, I'll try to get them set up to be posted here! But for now I got some rants, and a concept contributor!

3 way relocation move news!

Alright people try to follow me on this one, it's a brain scrambler one. First the Winnipeg Jets officially announced that they are relocating the St. John's Ice Caps to Winnipeg. This is a surprise to me but 2 things. Number 1 I felt like they miss the boat on this one, I understand that there is a slow progress going on with the arena deal in Thunder Bay and all, and number 2 I felt like they could have move the team anywhere in Saskatchewan, that province is screaming AHL Market right there. Now the next question is will they be called the Manitoba Moose again? Most likely in my opinion, hey it didn't stop the Dallas Stars AHL team being called the "Texas Stars" so why not? might as well.

With that St. John lost one AHL team, but they gain a AHL team. The Montreal Canadiens will move their farm team the Hamilton Bulldogs to St. John's. Word is they'll still be named the Ice Caps, unless the Jets has something to say about that, or they will let this one slide with this whole Laval Quebec arena thing in progress that could be the Habs farm club's main home in the next two years.

Then came the shocker that I did not see it coming! With Hamilton no longer have a AHL team, so they went down a level to the OHL, with rumors that the Erie Otters moving to somewhere unknown, and the Plymouth Whalers moving that ended up going to Flint next season. In stand the former AHL Hamilton Bulldogs owner purchased and got approved by the OHL to move the Belleville Bulls to Hamilton to be called of course the "Bulldogs" this one a shocker to me because this team is well story team with a lot of history for this team, but sadly it make sense because the city can't put good money into getting a brand new arena, that city deserve a new arena, not seeing their beloved team moved.

Now that I got my rant fix time for a concept contributor.

Stockton Thunder Concept [by Jake88]
With Stockton getting themselves promoted from the ECHL level to the AHL level this could be perfect for the team, if not a good alternate jersey.
Up points: Yellow fit this team very nicely. The design on the jersey is good. Lastly liking the bolts stripe on the arms is a nice touch.
Down point: Grey is good but I felt that this jersey could look better without grey mostly trim around the numbers, it looks blended with the yellow.
My suggestion: Replace the grey with white, and add white on the hem to give that eye popper effect!

Well that's today post. Hopefully I can get the chance and feeling up to post more stuff here! Til then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Lone Contributor: Try to think something warm

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. It's been almost 3 weeks since my last post, and it's been awhile since there was a lone contributor post so what better way to warm up from this cold weather with a Calgary Flames concept by Ricky M. Let's get to it!

Up points: The home and the road are good, the yoke is nicely design. Use the colors right, nothing too off. The alternate is very creative.
Down points: On the home jersey I felt like the nameplate, and the numbers should be mainly white to give that eye popper factor. On the road I feel the black and the red should be switch. Lastly on the 3rd the nameplate doesn't look right without trim around it.

Well this post is in the books, hopefully I can do some more posts soon if I can get of this funk I got since January, I just don't have the feel to post anything, then again this is wintertime so I can blame that for the lack of posts, and of course a lot things had been crazy for me outside the concept world, I'll leave at that. Until then, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Land hooo!

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today we got my "Last" IceHL team that I made from last summer for the contest they had over there, yes I know this is January and I'm doing a IecHL post that should been posted in September but better late then never! It's the "Quebec Armada."

Quebec Armada [by me]
I used simple Philly's form on the arms with trims to go with it, and I put the wave stripes on the hem. That's pretty much it, this one went all the way to the final four only to lose out to a better set then my and that person is Jake and would you know he set his set to me!

Quebec Armada [by Jake88]
Up points: The stripes are nicely placed on both jerseys. He used two logos each in stand of one, but fits the well with the jerseys.
Down point: The dark jersey doesn't have arm stripes, only the logo.
My suggestion: Give the dark jersey arm stripes, the same treatment as you did with the hem, but keep the logo there.

Well that's today post. Hopefully I can get back on track on things and post some more stuff here, for now I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Have a happy Super Bowl weekend!

Today is just Ducky!

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today is all Ducks post! We got Anaheim Ducks concept by a contributor, and a Quad City Mallards alternate jersey concept, let's get to it.

Quad City Mallards Alternate concept (by me)
The Mallards wanted a alternate jersey for themselves, so they had HJC to host the contest. I send this one in, I like the duck head with the helmet logo so much that I use it as the main front logo, followed by the circle and two sticks crossed logo as the shoulder patch. using the wave stripes for both the arms, and hem. Big green yoke put on this concept for a finishing touch.

HJC Feedback

Anaheim Ducks concept (by Ricky)
Up points:  Orange jersey is always a plus for me. Stripes on both arms, and hem is well made just like the team's old mighty ducks black alternate jersey. The "OC" logo as the shoulder patch is a good idea to me!
Down points: Numbers on the front doesn't fit this concept to my taste. Word mark logo is fine, but I prefer the webbed "D" logo at any time.

Well that's today, more coming soon, if I can get to them until then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Concept of the Dead: No team for Quebec is BULL(dogs)

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today we one more contributor concept made by Ricky, let's get to it.

Quebec Bulldogs NHA concept [by Ricky]
Up points: Two color barber stripes on the main jersey works for me mainly using royal blue on both nameplate and numbers completes the jersey.
Down point: The clash is good but the gold yoke and collar doesn't fit well on jersey.
My Suggestion: Change the gold on the clash to either cream, or sky blue and it's a winner to me.

Well today's post is done, be here tomorrow for the finale of the "Concept of the Dead" until then, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Concept of the Dead: What Wanderers

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Once again we got our self another concept made by Ricky, this time the  Montreal Wanderers.

Montreal Wanderers Concept [by Ricky]
Up points: The logo is so 1800's and early 1900's but it fit this theme. The main jersey is two color barber stripes with just fit the team. Black number is a good move because it's barely readable on the logo, can you image having a hard time seeing those numbers in red or cream? Love the placing the red nameplate on a cream stripes very smart.
Down point: The clash is fine, but purple does not fit this team to me.
My Suggestion: Switch the purple color with black on the clash jersey.

Well another post is done, more are coming until then, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Concept of the Dead: The Chief

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today is the Toronto Tecumsehs made by Ricky.

Toronto Tecumsehs NHA concept [by Ricky]
The logo looks good, the main jersey is purple but for some odd reason it fit this team pretty well to me. The down point on this the main jersey looks plain compare to the clash, the logo, nameplate, and the numbers on the clash are purple it seem doesn't fit it with the cream, scarlet, and black. Overall not bad of a concept, I felt this is pretty much not a match together very well, but that's my opinion.

Well that's today post, we got more coming so keep your eye on it til then, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Concept of the Dead: (No) Sham(on the)rocks

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Once again we got a concept contributor from Ricky, this time it's the Montreal Shamrocks.

Montreal Shamrocks NHA concept [by Ricky]
Up points: Both the main, and the clash are made to fit the theme of the shamrocks. The main jersey is two color barber stripes is alright with me! The clash is tamed and look pretty dang good.
Down point: Read the suggestion part.
My suggestion: Add black trim around the logo on the main jersey. Add cream trim around the logo on the clash jersey.

Well today's post is done for now until, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Concept of the Dead: A silver (or cream) lining

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today as "Concept of the Dead" rolls on, we got a Cobalt Silver Kings NHA Concept made by Ricky!

Cobalt Silver Kings NHA Concept [by Ricky]
Up points: Stripes on both the arms, and the hem are placed very well. The stripes near the yokes are rare thing to see in other people's concept work, whats even more rare is how it actually fit this concept pretty dang good. The arm stripes are space away from each other were you can easily [if you like] add TV numbers there.
Down point: I feel that the cream color does not fit this team that are called Cobalt "Silver" Kings.
My Suggestion: Switch the cream color with silver and we got our self a winner.

Well that's today post. More is coming until then, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Concept of the Dead: 1.0 Rising

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today we begin the "Concept of the Dead" and what better way to start this event off with a concept contributor. Let's not waste time and let get this going.

Ottawa Senators NHA concept [by Ricky M.]
Up points: This has "Classic" written all over. The main jersey is well striped as the old jerseys the Sens 1.0. The nameplate sits nicely on a single stripe, and that goes to the numbers as well.
Down points: The clash got a nice stripes going on a slant on the front of the jersey is O.K. but it lacks arm stripes, even with the stripes on the wrist this clash jersey looks unfinished.
My Suggestion: Add stripes on the arms give it the treatment as the stripe slants on the front of the jersey.

Well that's the first post of the "Concept of the Dead" month, more will be posted soon until then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

To the MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Now before we get to today's IceHL post I got some updates to tell you all. First with my team Japan concepts posted, my IIHF series is up for ever to see it's on my DeviantArt page. Second, I updated my "Concept of the Dead" page, it's now got a deadline, you got until October 18 to send your defunct hockey concepts if you want to be part of this event.
Now with that out of the way, on to the IceHL jerseys.

Moscow Cosmonauts IceHL [by me]

Truthfully I took my Hamilton Steelcats IceHL set change the collar, and the stitching. Using the helmet logo as the main logo for the front fits the set to my tatse. Red is the main color on these set follow by black, and gold.

Moscow Cosmonauts IceHL [Jake88]
Up points: The designs on both these set are designed nicely! Good choice of fonts on both nameplates, and numbers. Lastly way to put the Russian flag smartly.
Down point: the stripe from shoulder down to the front is good, but the back doesn't have that not even at least on the back of the shoulder yoke.
My suggestion: Read the down point for my suggestion.

Well another week is in the books for now. I'll try to post one more before I start some post for the "Concept of the Dead" month. Until then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

From Japan with love!

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today we got not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 concept here today! 3 by me and one from a contributor. 2 Japan IIHF concepts, and 2 Osaka Samurai IceHL concepts. Let's get to the concept shall we.

Team Japan World Champions Concept [by me]

All the stripes are simple, nameplate and the numbers are simple. I gave the yoke the Dallas Stars treatment witch I say it gave this concept some nice flavor to it. I made red as the main color follow by black. The logo is the dot with black trim around it, two hockey sticks and Japanese characters for "Japan" to give this concept a good taste to everyone even this concept was in the running for HJC's COTW back in June.

Team Japan Olympics concept [by me]

On this one is again simple with some goodies I put on this concept. I paced both Japanese characters, and word mark "Japan" on the arm stripes, made the logo base on the rising sun of Japan, and as always replacing the stupid fake lace with the country's flag.

HJC Feedback

Osaka Samurai IceHL concept [by me]

Using the same template as my Blenheim Blades concept but with some tweaks and add extra stripes to it. Using the Winnipeg Jets letters, and my Kroftsmann fonts for the numbers give this concept of my complete.

Osaka Samurai IceHL concept [by jake88]
Up points: These really got "cultural" written all over it! Dark jersey gave that "Ninja" feel to it, while the white is "Pride" and looks proud to show it! The fonts for both the numbers and nameplates was a nice touch to this concept.
Down points: Even thou the white jersey got pride on it, but for some odd reason this also got that Carolina Hurricanes vibe on it too, but that's to me.
My suggestion: I got nothing to suggest.

Well hope you enjoy this big post today, because it'll be it for this week because of this week on HJC latest contest that caught my eye and I'm working on it for the rest of this week, but don't worry there will be more posts next week. Lastly don't forget to send in your defunct hockey concepts if you want to be part of October's "Concept of the Dead" event, click the banner for the info on how to send it, not a contest, no rules, just showcasing defunct hockey teams on this site. Until then, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Monday: Long time no see Blues

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today we got some more goodies from two concept contributors for you all today. let's not waste time and get going!

St. Louis Blues concept (By Caden P.)
Up points: Stripes on the arms, and hem makes both home, and road really pop my eyes in a good way! Love the yokes nice design! Lastly using blue more on this concept is a plus from me.
Down point: Even thou the numbers got a trim around but one trim on the numbers looks plain to me. On the road you pulled the "Flyers" with the nameplate
My suggestion: Give the numbers the same treatment as you did with the arms, and hem stripes.

St. Louis Blues concept (By Ricky M.)
Up point: I like the idea of using the Blues current alternate logo as the main crest.
Down points: The jerseys are good design, but it doesn't fit with this team all to me. The alternate is the only thing that pretty much works for me. Lastly red being use on these concepts I'm not a big fan of.
My suggestion: Replace all of the red with blue to make this concept work to me, remove the vertical piping on both home, and road, and lastly add one more trim around the numbers to give these concept the edge and good enough to my taste.

Well that's today post. Remember to send in your defunct hockey concepts if you want to be part of this October's "Concept of the Dead!" Don't forget to "Like" my Facebook page for my throwback Thursdays, and there will be my extra feature showing off my work with prototypes stuff putting together before being completed. Until the next post here I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Summer of Concept Contributor: The Finale!

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today marks the last week of  "Summer of Concept Contributor," and marks the 25th concept contributor post! This week contributor is a contributor that start it all, it was back in 2012, he is Steven G from SG-94. This link was the first concept contributor post featuring Steven. Now this time is Steve G send me a concept base on my favorite OHL team the London Knights.

Up Points: The stripes on both dark, and white are placed right. Love the addition of stripes at the end of the yoke on the white jersey. Nice call on the numbers and nameplate fonts. Lastly even thou I preferred the modern Knight logo, but the way the jersey was put together nicely to help the old school logo look good.
Down Point: The number fonts is a good choice but 1 trim around looks too plain to me.
My Suggestion: Add one more trim around the numbers, add green to the collar on the white jersey.

Well with this post done means the "Summer of Concept Contributor" is over, hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer, as well I would like to thank everyone who send their concepts to me to make this happen. Thank you guys! We will be going back to our normal posts hopefully soon, until then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Summer of Concept Contributor: Red vs. Blue

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Well this week is once again another double concept contributor post in week 8 of "Summer of Concept Contributor" once again it's Ricky's turn. Now on to the concepts.

Detroit Red Wings Concept [by Ricky]
Ricky give us a Red wings concept that out of this world. Well not exactly out of this world, but close enough, just putting the team's main logo on the shoulder, two stripes on the arms, straight nameplate is alright with me, and lastly word mark with drop shadow is a nice touch. The problem is the numbers is also drop shadow, but is black with white drop shadow, I felt like it need to be like the word mark just white with black drop shadow, and you got yourself a winner.

Montreal Canadiens Concept [by Ricky]
Up points: seeing the Habs in blue is rare a thing to see, and this one was put together smartly. Adding the yokes, and tie down collar is a nice touch. Add another trim around the numbers is alright with me.
Down points: The only things I can come up with are lack of red trims on the wrist cuffs, and trims on the bottom of the hem.
My suggestion: See the down points.

Well that's this week, next week will be the last of the "Summer of Concept Contributor" and this one is special to me, a concept from a contributor that start it all back in 2012! Also next week will be my 25th concept contributor post, it'll be fun to do next week til then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Summer of Concept Contributor: Got some blues?

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. The "Summer of Concept Contributor" heart is still beating this week, Joey returns with "TWO" St.Louis Blues concept! Let's get to it.

St.Louis Blues Concept [by Joey F.]
Up point: The logo looks pretty good without the red. using the stripes base on the team's old 90's set is a good idea. The colors are blue, and yellow is a wise pick. The yokes are square but well put together and the Blues main logo as the shoulder patch save this concept.
Down points: the stripes the arms is placed way too low. The numbers is too plain to me without trims. On the road white and yellow just doesn't sit well with me. Lastly on both of them has no stitching on the jerseys, it feels less real, and more just put together without taking time to put it together nicely.
My suggestion: rise the arm stripes up more, add trims around the numbers, and on the road switch the yellow, and blue to make it road look good. Lastly don't forget the stitching.

St.Louis Blues concept [by Joey F.]
Edited by Joey, he removed the arm stripes and put gradient style on the arms from blue to navy blue on the home, and from blue to white on the road, he also add it on the bottom side of the jersey for good measure. I felt the he should do the same on the yokes and add some yellow to the arms.

Winnipeg Jets Concept (Jake88)
We are jumping from blue and gold, to blue and red!
Up points: Love the stripes on the arms, and the shoulders and the way to use the Flyers like arm template on it that made this concept an eye popper. Nice choices on the fonts for the numbers, nameplate, and even the captain patch too! Using the logo made by Brian Goff made this concept almost complete.
Down points: I like the idea of the maple leaf on the back of the jerseys, but with the numbers on top of it made look too busy to me. both the wrist stripe and hem stripe on the dark jersey look plain to me.
My suggestion: give  both the wrist stripe and hem stripe on the dark jersey the same treatment as the hem stripes on the white jersey instead of blue make it white. I know this may torn everyone hearts but I say remove the maple leaf off the back of the jersey.
Another post done, but we got more to go next week until then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Summer of Concept Contributor: Beep! Beep! And Quack! Quack!

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. "Summer of Concept Contributor" is still rolling on with week number 6 with a double concepts from Ricky M, and one from Jake! On to the concepts.

Montreal Roadrunners Roller Hockey International concept [by Ricky M.]
The Jersey is put together nicely, I know it looks like it was just put together, but it was put together instructively. The logo fits this concept, it also fits with the Roller Hockey International. The number fonts are good, but two things, one on the road it needs black trim around the numbers, and two the front numbers really doesn't need to be there. The swirl on the hem of both jerseys is an nice touch. The colors is good even thou it got black, and navy blue with red as the main color, but it was tamed wisely.

Anaheim Ducks Concept [by Ricky M.]
Up points: Orange as the home's main color is a plus to me. Using the Ducks alternate shoulder patch as the main logo for both home, and road is a good move to me! The home, and road jerseys are well put together. The alternate jersey is normal, but good enough to me that feature the Mighty Ducks era alternate word mark logo that is recolored and looking good. Lastly the NYR's pants with the Ducks colors is a good enough for my cup of tea.
Down points: The lack of hem on both home, and road, and black color numbers, and nameplate is the only things I got beef with.
My suggestion: Add hem stripes on both home, and road jerseys. Make the numbers, and nameplate on the home jersey white.

Oregon Ducks NCAA concept [by Jake88]
Up points: The chest stripes and the "O" logo fits the theme for Oregon hockey, the stripes is well done, helmet got that football theme going, and it really help makes it happen. Add small wings on the shoulders is fine with me. Lastly nice call on the fonts for both numbers, and nameplate.
Down points: The dark looks really too plain compare to the white jersey. Green pants, and green gloves doesn't match with the green on the jerseys. Fake lase nuff said.
My suggestion: Make the pants and the gloves the same colors as the jerseys. Give the stripes on the dark the same treatment as the white just switch the green, yellow, and green to yellow, green, and yellow.

Another week of  "Summer of Concept Contributor" is in the books come by next week for another one til then, I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.

Summer of Concept Contributor: Heritage gone Classic

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Week number 5 of the "Summer of Concept Contributor" came from Joey, this one is a Heritage Classic concept between the Leafs, and the Habs. Let's get to it.

2016 Heritage Classic Concept [by Joey F.]
Up points: The logos on both of them looks good, something simple, classy, and original! The colors are well picked wisely.
Down points: Numbers on the front is not needed to be on both them jerseys. The arm stripes on both is to low to me. Lastly the small stripes with the big stripes on both the arms, and hem are too tin to me.
My suggestion: Remove the front numbers, raise the arm stripes a little higher, and make the small stripes a little thicker to see them better.

You think that's all I got for you? Well guess again! I got 2 concepts from Jake88!

Washington Capitals concept [by Jake88]
Up points: The chest, and the under arm stripe are base on the flag of Washington D.C. and I have to say I like it! Putting the stars on the arms is always a good move to me. Lastly putting the D.C. stars inside the collar is an nice touch!
Down point/My suggestion: The only thing I have a little issue with is the stars colored in wrong order, instead of red/white, red/white, blue, and blue, it should be red/white, blue, red/white and blue.

Slovan Bratislava Alternate Concept [by Jake88]
Up points: For this "Faux-back" style alternate, this fits the team very well. Word mark logo is classy and and well placed on the jersey. Modern number fonts gave this concept an nice touch!
Down point: Nothing to say anything wrong about this one.

Well that's another week of "Summer of Concept Contributor" see you all next week for some more goodies, until then I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to.
