Request to bring back the blues

Hello everyone Alan here for another fan request post here at AJH HJA. What better way to have a post before next Friday for a special fan request post then to go back in time well it's been 3 years since a wild marathon of nothing but Blues requests. However, this one is tamed it's the Blues old 07-08 Reebok edge set with J-Log Rebellion Sans Small Caps Font for both nameplate and numbers. Also, a navy blue jersey to go along with the set so here it is the St.Louis Blues Fan Request concept.

St.Louis Blue Concept 2019

Hi everyone Alan here for my first off-season post here at AJH HJA. Sorry for lack of posts here because I had to let a lot of things sink in mostly realizing that the Toronto Raptors are the 2019 NBA Champions the very champions that dethroned the Golden State Warriors in 6 games, I'll never forget it. Now with that out of the way, it's time for a concept, a concept that was once again didn't win an HJC contest as usually. It's the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Champions the St.Louis Blues.

I altered the arm stripes, and add stripes down the sides. Add the team's circle logo on the shoulders and on their helmet. I tweaked the primary logo to match the stripes on the jerseys.

Well, this one is done come back soon as I post some more concept, until then, later.

NHL Adidas concept: St.Louis Blues

Hi everyone, Alan here for another post here at AJH HJA. This week is the St.Louis Blues but first I got things to tell.

Plans for this year Playoff Pickz

This year Playoff Pickz will be like last year it'll have both my picks and concepts but unlike last year that had fan request concepts this one will feature my other concept designs that didn't make the cut to be part of my NHL Adidas concept series, so keep an eye out for it.

Quad City Mallards no more

Last Tuesday there was news that the Quad City Mallards one of minor hockey league team with a strong brand will cease operations following the end of the current 2017-18 season. The Owner announced it along with giving the ECHL the info about their decision to withdraw their membership. This is a sad news to me because I believe that the Mallards would be one of those teams from the CeHL that could last long, but I was wrong.

St.John NL returns to the minors

ECHL lost one team but gains one as St.John will get a ECHL team over an year and half since losing their AHL team. What name they will be called is unknown but I'm hoping they'll be called the Ice Caps again that's a cool name but if not I hope they won't be called the Fog Devils that's a terrible name. I think maybe they can be take the Mallards place as a minor hockey league team with a strong brand, I know I'm pushing it but hey I can dream about it.

Well rants done on to the Blues concept.

The colors are blue, gold, and lighter shade of blue. Simple stripes on arms, hem, socks, and yoke with a different shape. Standard block on for the nameplate, the numbers are the same with two thin trims. The team’s main logo is the same as they were but different colors, on the dark jersey is the light blue, while the white jersey is the blue.

Request to have more blues

Hi Everyone Alan here for part 3 of the “Requested Month” here at the AJH HJA. Once again it’s the St. Louis Blues fan request concept now in set form. If you want know what it’s based on go check part 2 and it’ll explain it for you. Here are two set. The first set featured blue as the main color, and the second set got navy blue as the main color.

Request to have the blues number 1

Hi everyone Alan here for part 2 of the “Requested Month” here at AJH HJA. The next request that John O. asked is the St. Louis Blues, there were 3 different format colors on the numbers on both blue and navy blue while the white only got two so on this post will feature both set of blue jerseys, and navy blue.

The jersey look is based on the Blues old set from 1995 to 1998 even the numbers got the follow the stripes look. Unlike the classic set that had red on the jerseys this one got the team’s current colors which thank goodness John ask for the current color over any red on the Blues because in my opinion red is an overrated color for the Blues period. The numbers and the nameplate font are “J-LOG Rebellion Sans Small Caps.”

Requesting to take a break.

Hi everyone Alan here at AJH HJA. Just like last year I’m taking a summer break from this site, and hopefully unlike last year I’ll get back on track this September. I got a lot of goodies on this post to get to, so let’s get to it.

Penguins wins the Stanley Cup!

First up I would like to congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins on winning the Stanley Cup as they beat the San Jose Sharks in 6 games, witch I’m disappointed that it didn’t end in 5 I felt like the Sharks use their last litres of gas in them for nothing, but in the end the Pens got the job done and claim their 4^th Stanley Cup title and for 4^th time they won it on the road.

Hockey comes to Las Vegas

Well its official, Las Vegas is getting a hockey team. This has been a heavy rumored about it pretty much a long time. The word is the team name will be called the “Black Knights” others said it’s should be called something else who knows we’ll wait till October to see if they reviled the official name. That means once again Quebec got jib out of the expansion, man this city just can’t catch a break, hopefully they’ll get a team ether expansion, or relocation if our Canadian dollar stop sucking bad.

Remember my Atlanta Thrashers concept, well I made some tweaks on that concept mainly on the arm stripes, I cut off the arrows stripes and fix the some stripes here and there and that’s all.

HJC Feedback

Now we get to the request concept once again made by John O. You may remember him from his past requests as the “Chicago Blackhawks Stadium Series” concept, the “Ottawa Senators Concept” and the “Toronto Maple Leafs Boston style concept.” This time it’s the St. Louis Blues. This one is a Blues classic pre-edge uniform (1998-2007) in Reebok edge form, but only difference is the numbers and nameplates gets a J-LOG Rebellion Sans Small Caps font custom made by John O. Before I started to work on it I show him the new templates I saw that I really like and I ask him, well really I was hoping he was cool with it but it didn’t happen but oh well I try my best. Anyways it’s a theme of what if the jerseys look like in different ways within blue, gold, and navy blue, from his liking to my oops.  So instead of posting them by Home, Road, Alternate set style I decided to post them in groups, one all white jerseys, one in blue jerseys, and one in navy blue.

Before I go there was sad news everywhere in hockey world that we lost a legend, on June the 10^th we the hockey world lost Gordie Howe. He was all-time greats, Hall of Famer, and in my opinion the man that put the Detroit Red Wings on the map! We the Hockey fans are going to miss you Gordie.

My NHL jerseys rants

Hi everybody, Alan here for my last post for 2015, concept wise for me wasn't a good year for me, it was the worst for me even thou I had two concepts up for the HJC COTW. I didn't made many concepts as I usually do, to didn't even got creative with most of my concepts, most of them I gave the "Reeboking" treatment (using the same templates in the past concept works.) I really felt like I went back to the well so many times that it became poison. The 1st half of 2016 will be crazy for me because I planning on putting together some posts leading to my 5th anniversary post in April including my annual "Playoff Pickz" then after that it's clearly unknown for me because summertime is usually a busy time for me outside of the concept world it'll be more likely another summer break from this site witch means I won't have time or efforts in putting together any more concepts from the top of my head, so don't be surprised with the lack of posts in the summertime if I'm not too busy then I'll try put some concepts together, but one change I will make official, starting 2016 I will no longer accepting contributor's concepts, it's a decision that I made for myself with having less time doing concepts because outside the concept world (aka life) will be more busy around me, my apologize for that one.

Now with that out of the way time for NHL Jerseys rants!

NHL turns 100!
As many of you all aware of, beginning in 2016-17 season the NHL will be 100 years old not season 100 due to the lockout that canceled 2004-05 season (thanks Bettman.) Hopefully we can expect a special centennial logo that is good to see, and won't hurt our eyes.

World Cup 2016
It's back the World Cup is coming to Toronto that not only put together by the NHL, and NHLPA. But also the jerseys are going to be made by Adidas! With both Nike, and IIHF out of the picture in this one I can see this to be either good jerseys, or ugly jerseys that make you wanna pull your eyes out of the socket. This event featuring six nations, and two all-stars like teams. To make things even better there is no talks about lockouts, CBA, or any other crap, just the World Cup of Hockey, can't wait.

Oilers going orange.
If the rumors are true that there are talks about next season that the Oilers are promoting their orange jersey to 3rd, then I'm all for it! I kinda like the orange jersey how it base on their old WHA days as they're getting out of their old barn and into their new beautiful new arena next season, it's fitting that a orange third is in demand of all of the Oilers fans, if for the sake of my input the only change I want to see is the arms and hem stripes getting the same treatment as either the home, or the road and call it a day.

Panthers getting new set.
With the Florida Panthers staying put despite low numbers of fan support going to games, Reebok said there are talks that the team is getting a new set witch make sense to me because if you look at it they are 2 years away (2017-18 season) of hitting their 25th anniversary of the team's time with the NHL. Some people hopping the new set base on the team's early days, I'm hopping for a set that works well to my taste, their current set was alright but early edge design with vertical piping ruins what could have been one of good edge design.

LA going gold!
Los Angeles Kings will turn 50 next year along with 3 other teams that will turn 50 also. Sources say a "special edition" jersey to honor the team's 50th anniversary. My perdition they will wear the Gretzky era jersey because they're already show off their Reebok style classic set base on the team's early days for their Legends Night games, having the Gretzky era jersey made sense to me, after all in my opinion Gretzky was the reason that the Kings rose to become big time team, and put themselves on the map and later on in 2012 won the Stanley Cup.

Ottawa Sens 25th.
The Ottawa Senators are turning 25, the team's 25th anniversary logo is a horror show just bad, and more likely will be on their jerseys. As for jerseys I'm hopping that the team make their current alternate jersey as their main home, while making the team's heritage classic jersey as road, so that will make way for a early '90s throwback third jersey. That's my perdition!

Flying at 50.
Just like the LA Kings the Philadelphia Flyers will celebrate the 50th anniversary. According to Reebok the Flyers will also have a "special edition" jersey in the works. I for one believes that it's a no brainier that it will be a jersey base on a set they wore from 1982 to 2007, sure that set didn't gave them a Stanley Cup titles as oppose to their 1972 to 1977 set they won two titles (1974, 1975) but truthfully in my opinion they wore that style better then the Kings 1980 to 88 set!

The Pens turns 50.
Pittsburgh Penguins is celebrating 50th anniversary next year, and I'm hopping finally at last they would change their set that had plague both the Pens fans, and the jersey loving fans. All they have to do is to make their current 3rd as their main home, and make a white version of that jersey. That will make room for a 3rd jersey base on the team's inaugural season jersey, the powder blue one with the word "Pittsburgh" across the front diagonally not that poor excuse 2011 Winter Classic jersey don't get me wrong it's a nice jersey and all but I felt like it's more alternate flux back style then being classic in my mind.

St. Louis going 50.
St. Louis Blues will turn 50 next year, nothing too big only talks they are replacing the team's 3rd jersey. It's pretty much more likely just like the other 3 teams a throwback jersey, there are many good jerseys that the Blues wore but the 1979-84 set is my favorite, followed by 1998-2007 set, and their current set.

25 lightning strikes.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are marking 25 years in the NHL next season. With their current set is bad, and their alternate jersey is a joke. No word on any changes within the team but I'm hopping for a brand new set with black as the team main color, and make the jerseys base on their first set and just call it a day!

100 Leafs
The NHL are not only ones that are turning 100, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be turning 100 also! Since 2013 the club have been preparing this anniversary, and there talks that the Leafs will be pulling the Habs for their 100th anniversary with lots of jerseys to honor their days as Toronto Arenas, Toronto St.Pats, and currently the Maple Leafs. There are going to be a crazy numbers of jerseys to be part of my collection even thou I hate the Leafs but their jerseys I can't hate.

2017 Heritage Classic
Winnipeg Jets have been trying to host a Heritage Classic for a long time but with the NHL 100th anniversary around the corner the top two on the list to be host of the event is either Toronto, or Ottawa. I can see Toronto vs Ottawa whether it's in Toronto, or Ottawa it'll be a good match up.

2017 Winter Classic
Chris Smith from Icethetics suggest that the match up should be the Pens and the Flyers some of you disagreed with him, I say half, in fact why stop there I say have two Winter Classic games! one in Pittsburgh were the Pens face the Kings, while the Flyers goes to St.Louis to go one on one with the Blues. Sure two Winter Classic is too many, but hey it's a win, win in my books!

2017 Stadium Series
Everyone wants different teams playing the Stadium Series indeed I too want different teams playing! If the Wild didn't host the 2016 Stadium Series, I would see the them hosting next year with the San Jose Sharks. Now hear me out on this one, next season could have been both the Minnesota North Stars (moved to Dallas) and California Golden Seals (moved to Cleveland in 1976 then two years later folded) 50th anniversary in the NHL it make sense with the Wild playing against the Sharks (were they're playing the same area as the Seals) as tribute to two fallen teams.

2017 All-Star Game
It's a no brainier that the Maple Leafs will host next season All-Star game, if not New York Rangers should be in line to host the game. With this years All-Star game going a 4 team tournament style who knows what 2017 will bring us.

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Today we got some more goodies from two concept contributors for you all today. let's not waste time and get going!

St. Louis Blues concept (By Caden P.)

Up points: Stripes on the arms, and hem makes both home, and road really pop my eyes in a good way! Love the yokes nice design! Lastly using blue more on this concept is a plus from me.
Down point: Even thou the numbers got a trim around but one trim on the numbers looks plain to me. On the road you pulled the "Flyers" with the nameplate
My suggestion: Give the numbers the same treatment as you did with the arms, and hem stripes.

St. Louis Blues concept (By Ricky M.)

Up point: I like the idea of using the Blues current alternate logo as the main crest.
Down points: The jerseys are good design, but it doesn't fit with this team all to me. The alternate is the only thing that pretty much works for me. Lastly red being use on these concepts I'm not a big fan of.
My suggestion: Replace all of the red with blue to make this concept work to me, remove the vertical piping on both home, and road, and lastly add one more trim around the numbers to give these concept the edge and good enough to my taste.

Labour Day Rant

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Hope you all enjoy my last Summer of Concept Contributor. You may see here I change around this site from green, black, and gold to orange, and green. I decide to bright it up nothing more. No concepts today just rants, let's get going.

Concept Contributor posts still going strong and a new Contributor event.

The Summer of Concept Contributor maybe over but there still be more Concept Contributor posts in the future, in fact I announce that this October will be called "Concept of the Dead" all October will feature nothing but defunct teams, teams that are no longer active any more like teams from NHA for an example. If you have any defunct concepts you made to be part of this event send it to "ajhftw@gmail.com. So far total concepts for the "Concept of the Dead" is at 17, that's included me. If received at least 31 total it could be all 31 days of posts all October. Again you want to your defunct team concepts to be featured on my "Concept of the Dead" send them.

St. Louis Blues new set!

It's about damn time that the Blues change their set to a look base on their old set from 1998-2007. The set is nice looking, the stripes, the hem, and the yoke is put together brilliantly. The down point is the socks, I kinda wist they would give it the same treatment as the stripes, the hem. Overall great set for the blues.

HJC Open, and IceHL updates.

Well first one off the bat, I entered the HJC Open, and got the first round out, nuff said. as for the IceHL contests I entered 8 out of 9 them the last 4 wasn't easy for me beating the deadline while at the same time being busy with work that I had to put some other projects on the sideline temporally and so far 2 got in the final four round, I'm waiting what my latest 4 sets end up. My IceHL concepts will be posted this month including some contributors too so keep your eyes over here for them.

Summer of Concept Contributor: Got some blues?

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. The "Summer of Concept Contributor" heart is still beating this week, Joey returns with "TWO" St.Louis Blues concept! Let's get to it.

St.Louis Blues Concept [by Joey F.]

Up point: The logo looks pretty good without the red. using the stripes base on the team's old 90's set is a good idea. The colors are blue, and yellow is a wise pick. The yokes are square but well put together and the Blues main logo as the shoulder patch save this concept.

Down points: the stripes the arms is placed way too low. The numbers is too plain to me without trims. On the road white and yellow just doesn't sit well with me. Lastly on both of them has no stitching on the jerseys, it feels less real, and more just put together without taking time to put it together nicely. 

My suggestion: rise the arm stripes up more, add trims around the numbers, and on the road switch the yellow, and blue to make it road look good. Lastly don't forget the stitching.

St.Louis Blues concept [by Joey F.]

Edited by Joey, he removed the arm stripes and put gradient style on the arms from blue to navy blue on the home, and from blue to white on the road, he also add it on the bottom side of the jersey for good measure. I felt the he should do the same on the yokes and add some yellow to the arms.

Winnipeg Jets Concept (Jake88)

We are jumping from blue and gold, to blue and red!
Up points: Love the stripes on the arms, and the shoulders and the way to use the Flyers like arm template on it that made this concept an eye popper. Nice choices on the fonts for the numbers, nameplate, and even the captain patch too! Using the logo made by Brian Goff made this concept almost complete.
Down points: I like the idea of the maple leaf on the back of the jerseys, but with the numbers on top of it made look too busy to me. both the wrist stripe and hem stripe on the dark jersey look plain to me.
My suggestion: give  both the wrist stripe and hem stripe on the dark jersey the same treatment as the hem stripes on the white jersey instead of blue make it white. I know this may torn everyone hearts but I say remove the maple leaf off the back of the jersey.

Summer of Concept Contributor: Behind the Mask

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. This week "Summer of Contributors!" is not a hockey jerseys, but it's a goalie mask concept from Ricky M. Off to the concept.

Ryan Miller St.Louis Blues Mask concept [By Ricky M.]

The details on the mask looks great! The notes are placed on the right spots. The Gateway Arch in navy is may be blended with true blue, but you can still see it. Lastly the city tops this nice art work all the way around the mask. the back of the mask is simply clever. The down point is the Olympics rings kinda overdoing it, it would work only in the Olympics, and not in the NHL.

St.Louis Blues Concept 02

These concepts are pretty simple, make it old school, and keep it in Reebok cut at the same time, the yokes is a little different from my first Blues concepts 4 months ago gave it their some what old strip patterns on the yokes.
