Fan Request: Pittsburgh Penguins 3: The Nightmare

Hi everyone Alan here for another Saturday, another week is done, and another post here at AJH HJA.

Well if you read the title indeed this next request is 2007-08 Pens Reebok design this team wore, it's the same design as Ottawa wore also but with tweaks on the hem sides. John also requested this design in Adidas form which it's pretty much the same as the Sens currently wearing with tweaks to at least make it more Pens then the Sens. Just like the 02-03 request the front logo is the robo penguin along with the "P" from the team's wordmark logo on the shoulders. and pretty much the numbers and the nameplate is the same as the two other Pens requests.

Fan Request: Pittsburgh Penguins 2: The revenge

Welcome back everyone to AJH HJA. Part 2 of the Penguins Fan Request concept requested by John O.

Let's get to it, everybody.

Once was an alternate jersey (the black jersey) from 2000 to 2002 then it became the main dark jersey along with a white jersey version as the 2002-03 season began til a bitter end in 2007. As you see the front logo is the robo penguin along with the "P" from the team's wordmark logo on the shoulders. Just like the 92-93 request set both the numbers and nameplate is J-Log Razor Edge Sans small caps with trims.

These are the same but in old gold version.

Fan Request: Pittsburgh Penguins

Hello everyone Alan here for another post here at AJH HJA.

Fan Request, by John O. Pittsburgh Penguins, but for the first time in a baggy template my kind of a template that he let me now use! Nothing more to say let's get going.

The design is based on the Pittsburgh Penguins 92-93 white jersey in both Reebok and Adidas form along with the team's infamous Robo penguin logo on the front and on the shoulder. The fonts for both numbers and nameplate is J-Log Razor Edge Sans small caps with trims. 1st row it's just the team's 92-93 design with the curve hem stripes treatment. 2nd row the same but both gold and black switch roles. 3rd row it's actually based on the team's unused jersey. 4th-row gold jersey, enough said.

Same on these but with vegas gold.

NHL Adidas concept: Pittsburgh Penguins

The arms are just like the team’s current set, but the hem is slanted to go with the main logo. Brought back the robo penguin logo as shoulder patch.

2017 NHL Playoff Pickz: Round 3 review, Stanley Cup Final pick.

Hi everyone Alan here for both Round 3 review, and my Stanley Cup Finals pick.

Here's Round 3 review.

Western Conference

1) Anaheim vs WC2) Nashville

My pick: Preds in 6 games

Result: Preds wins it in 6 games

My thought: I never thought that this team would be heading to the Stanley Cup finals.

Eastern Conference

2) Ottawa vs 2) Pittsburgh
My pick: Pens in 7 games
Result: Pens in 7 games
My thought: I got this series right just like the Western Conference finals.

Now before I place my final pick, it's time for another fan request concept but it's not the Calgary Flames, this time it's the Florida Panthers.

On this set it's the Panthers first 3 jersey set in Reebok form, the colors is from the team's current set, and lastly the nameplate and the number fonts is J-LOG Razor Edge Sans Small Caps.

This one is the same but the jersey design are recolored.

Lastly this is the team's first Reebok set plus their red jersey with the same pipping treatment as the others, and of course in the team's current colors.

Now it's time for my final pick and it is for the NHL Stanley Cup Championship. From the west the Challenger, the Nashville Predators. Their opponent, from the east, making their return for the 2nd time in a row, and the 2016 Stanley Cup Champion the Pittsburgh Penguins! Who will win?
My pick: Sorry Pittsburgh but I'm going with Nashville in 6 games.

Requesting to take a break.

Hi everyone Alan here at AJH HJA. Just like last year I’m taking a summer break from this site, and hopefully unlike last year I’ll get back on track this September. I got a lot of goodies on this post to get to, so let’s get to it.

Penguins wins the Stanley Cup!

First up I would like to congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins on winning the Stanley Cup as they beat the San Jose Sharks in 6 games, witch I’m disappointed that it didn’t end in 5 I felt like the Sharks use their last litres of gas in them for nothing, but in the end the Pens got the job done and claim their 4^th Stanley Cup title and for 4^th time they won it on the road.

Hockey comes to Las Vegas

Well its official, Las Vegas is getting a hockey team. This has been a heavy rumored about it pretty much a long time. The word is the team name will be called the “Black Knights” others said it’s should be called something else who knows we’ll wait till October to see if they reviled the official name. That means once again Quebec got jib out of the expansion, man this city just can’t catch a break, hopefully they’ll get a team ether expansion, or relocation if our Canadian dollar stop sucking bad.

Remember my Atlanta Thrashers concept, well I made some tweaks on that concept mainly on the arm stripes, I cut off the arrows stripes and fix the some stripes here and there and that’s all.

Now we get to the request concept once again made by John O. You may remember him from his past requests as the “Chicago Blackhawks Stadium Series” concept, the “Ottawa Senators Concept” and the “Toronto Maple Leafs Boston style concept.” This time it’s the St. Louis Blues. This one is a Blues classic pre-edge uniform (1998-2007) in Reebok edge form, but only difference is the numbers and nameplates gets a J-LOG Rebellion Sans Small Caps font custom made by John O. Before I started to work on it I show him the new templates I saw that I really like and I ask him, well really I was hoping he was cool with it but it didn’t happen but oh well I try my best. Anyways it’s a theme of what if the jerseys look like in different ways within blue, gold, and navy blue, from his liking to my oops.  So instead of posting them by Home, Road, Alternate set style I decided to post them in groups, one all white jerseys, one in blue jerseys, and one in navy blue.

Before I go there was sad news everywhere in hockey world that we lost a legend, on June the 10^th we the hockey world lost Gordie Howe. He was all-time greats, Hall of Famer, and in my opinion the man that put the Detroit Red Wings on the map! We the Hockey fans are going to miss you Gordie.

AJH HJA 5th anniversary: Gradient Gem

Hi everyone, Alan here for part 2 of my 5th anniversary post here at AJH HJA! On this day in 2011 I posted my very first concept, it was the Pittsburgh Penguins alternate concept it was based on the Pens first alternate jersey in Reebok cut form, I send this to HJC and it got good praises, and on that day I got hooked and been doing concepts since then.

Here's my first Pens alternate jersey concept.

A year later I decided to tame the concept with this one.

Now 2016 here's my Pittsburgh Penguins alternate concept.

I made it more gradient as I could, beside that and giving the hem the same treatment as the arm stripes it pretty much the same as my 2012 concept.

Well that's it, the celebration is over it's been a rough one for me juggling this, work, to even odd jobs but in the end I made through for now the only posts I'm making for now is my "Playoff Pickz" and so far is not looking good for me. Until then, later.

My NHL jerseys rants

Hi everybody, Alan here for my last post for 2015, concept wise for me wasn't a good year for me, it was the worst for me even thou I had two concepts up for the HJC COTW. I didn't made many concepts as I usually do, to didn't even got creative with most of my concepts, most of them I gave the "Reeboking" treatment (using the same templates in the past concept works.) I really felt like I went back to the well so many times that it became poison. The 1st half of 2016 will be crazy for me because I planning on putting together some posts leading to my 5th anniversary post in April including my annual "Playoff Pickz" then after that it's clearly unknown for me because summertime is usually a busy time for me outside of the concept world it'll be more likely another summer break from this site witch means I won't have time or efforts in putting together any more concepts from the top of my head, so don't be surprised with the lack of posts in the summertime if I'm not too busy then I'll try put some concepts together, but one change I will make official, starting 2016 I will no longer accepting contributor's concepts, it's a decision that I made for myself with having less time doing concepts because outside the concept world (aka life) will be more busy around me, my apologize for that one.

Now with that out of the way time for NHL Jerseys rants!

NHL turns 100!
As many of you all aware of, beginning in 2016-17 season the NHL will be 100 years old not season 100 due to the lockout that canceled 2004-05 season (thanks Bettman.) Hopefully we can expect a special centennial logo that is good to see, and won't hurt our eyes.

World Cup 2016
It's back the World Cup is coming to Toronto that not only put together by the NHL, and NHLPA. But also the jerseys are going to be made by Adidas! With both Nike, and IIHF out of the picture in this one I can see this to be either good jerseys, or ugly jerseys that make you wanna pull your eyes out of the socket. This event featuring six nations, and two all-stars like teams. To make things even better there is no talks about lockouts, CBA, or any other crap, just the World Cup of Hockey, can't wait.

Oilers going orange.
If the rumors are true that there are talks about next season that the Oilers are promoting their orange jersey to 3rd, then I'm all for it! I kinda like the orange jersey how it base on their old WHA days as they're getting out of their old barn and into their new beautiful new arena next season, it's fitting that a orange third is in demand of all of the Oilers fans, if for the sake of my input the only change I want to see is the arms and hem stripes getting the same treatment as either the home, or the road and call it a day.

Panthers getting new set.
With the Florida Panthers staying put despite low numbers of fan support going to games, Reebok said there are talks that the team is getting a new set witch make sense to me because if you look at it they are 2 years away (2017-18 season) of hitting their 25th anniversary of the team's time with the NHL. Some people hopping the new set base on the team's early days, I'm hopping for a set that works well to my taste, their current set was alright but early edge design with vertical piping ruins what could have been one of good edge design.

LA going gold!
Los Angeles Kings will turn 50 next year along with 3 other teams that will turn 50 also. Sources say a "special edition" jersey to honor the team's 50th anniversary. My perdition they will wear the Gretzky era jersey because they're already show off their Reebok style classic set base on the team's early days for their Legends Night games, having the Gretzky era jersey made sense to me, after all in my opinion Gretzky was the reason that the Kings rose to become big time team, and put themselves on the map and later on in 2012 won the Stanley Cup.

Ottawa Sens 25th.
The Ottawa Senators are turning 25, the team's 25th anniversary logo is a horror show just bad, and more likely will be on their jerseys. As for jerseys I'm hopping that the team make their current alternate jersey as their main home, while making the team's heritage classic jersey as road, so that will make way for a early '90s throwback third jersey. That's my perdition!

Flying at 50.
Just like the LA Kings the Philadelphia Flyers will celebrate the 50th anniversary. According to Reebok the Flyers will also have a "special edition" jersey in the works. I for one believes that it's a no brainier that it will be a jersey base on a set they wore from 1982 to 2007, sure that set didn't gave them a Stanley Cup titles as oppose to their 1972 to 1977 set they won two titles (1974, 1975) but truthfully in my opinion they wore that style better then the Kings 1980 to 88 set!

The Pens turns 50.
Pittsburgh Penguins is celebrating 50th anniversary next year, and I'm hopping finally at last they would change their set that had plague both the Pens fans, and the jersey loving fans. All they have to do is to make their current 3rd as their main home, and make a white version of that jersey. That will make room for a 3rd jersey base on the team's inaugural season jersey, the powder blue one with the word "Pittsburgh" across the front diagonally not that poor excuse 2011 Winter Classic jersey don't get me wrong it's a nice jersey and all but I felt like it's more alternate flux back style then being classic in my mind.

St. Louis going 50.
St. Louis Blues will turn 50 next year, nothing too big only talks they are replacing the team's 3rd jersey. It's pretty much more likely just like the other 3 teams a throwback jersey, there are many good jerseys that the Blues wore but the 1979-84 set is my favorite, followed by 1998-2007 set, and their current set.

25 lightning strikes.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are marking 25 years in the NHL next season. With their current set is bad, and their alternate jersey is a joke. No word on any changes within the team but I'm hopping for a brand new set with black as the team main color, and make the jerseys base on their first set and just call it a day!

100 Leafs
The NHL are not only ones that are turning 100, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be turning 100 also! Since 2013 the club have been preparing this anniversary, and there talks that the Leafs will be pulling the Habs for their 100th anniversary with lots of jerseys to honor their days as Toronto Arenas, Toronto St.Pats, and currently the Maple Leafs. There are going to be a crazy numbers of jerseys to be part of my collection even thou I hate the Leafs but their jerseys I can't hate.

2017 Heritage Classic
Winnipeg Jets have been trying to host a Heritage Classic for a long time but with the NHL 100th anniversary around the corner the top two on the list to be host of the event is either Toronto, or Ottawa. I can see Toronto vs Ottawa whether it's in Toronto, or Ottawa it'll be a good match up.

2017 Winter Classic
Chris Smith from Icethetics suggest that the match up should be the Pens and the Flyers some of you disagreed with him, I say half, in fact why stop there I say have two Winter Classic games! one in Pittsburgh were the Pens face the Kings, while the Flyers goes to St.Louis to go one on one with the Blues. Sure two Winter Classic is too many, but hey it's a win, win in my books!

2017 Stadium Series
Everyone wants different teams playing the Stadium Series indeed I too want different teams playing! If the Wild didn't host the 2016 Stadium Series, I would see the them hosting next year with the San Jose Sharks. Now hear me out on this one, next season could have been both the Minnesota North Stars (moved to Dallas) and California Golden Seals (moved to Cleveland in 1976 then two years later folded) 50th anniversary in the NHL it make sense with the Wild playing against the Sharks (were they're playing the same area as the Seals) as tribute to two fallen teams.

2017 All-Star Game
It's a no brainier that the Maple Leafs will host next season All-Star game, if not New York Rangers should be in line to host the game. With this years All-Star game going a 4 team tournament style who knows what 2017 will bring us.

Hello I'm Alan, I'll get elbow to my head, so you don't have to. Now normally I rant on new jerseys whenever I fell like it, to even not ranting about it. Until today when the Pittsburgh Penguins unveiled their new third jersey for the 2014-2015 season, and all I can say is "ABOUT DANG TIME!"

It took this team a long time to really bring back this classic to the Reebok form, base on their famous 1986 to 1992 set worn and made famous by Mario Lemieux that also brought the Pens their back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. The Alternate Jersey is brilliantly made, the stripes is placed nicely, the colors are the way it's suppose to be. Overall: Buy this jersey in a heart beat!

Well that's all I can rant about this jersey it's perfect enough for me not putting anymore yap about it, but I hope this leads to something more like what the Oilers, Flyers, and the Islanders did that's all I can say.

Remember if you want to be part of October's "Concept of the Dead" event send in your defunct hockey team concepts, I repeat it's not a contest, it's just a showcase, good, or bad nothing more.

Pittsburgh vs. Chicago Stadium Series Concept [by Ricky]

Pittsburgh
Up points: Gold as the main color on the jersey is a good move to my mind. The robo Penguin make a return is alright with me. Lastly the design base on the team's first ever alternate jersey never get too old for me.
Down points: 2 things. 1. No hem stripe makes the jersey look uncompleted, and 2. The grey wrist stripe looks plain to me.
My suggestion: Add hem stripes, and give some touches to that grey wrist stripes some more love just like the others.
Chicago
Up points: The stripes is well put together, and the red numbers is an eye popper for me.
Down points: Red under the arms, and the red helmet throw this concept off to me.
My suggestion: Make the red under the arms, and the red helmet black.

Team Kazakhstan Concept [by Joey F.]

Up points: The design on the jersey is simple, but with the angle pattern slap on it gave it that "Team Kazakhstan" written all over it. Nameplate is Blue Jackets font, but fits the theme on this concept. Lastly nice job on the "C" patch there.
Down point: The only thing is the lack of white, that's all.
My suggestion: Add some white on the jersey from replace a yellow stripe, to add white trim around the numbers.

Top 11 NHL Outdoor games jersey

Hi everyone Happy New Year everyone as we are hours away from the Wings-Leafs Winter Classic game. One of six outdoor games this year so I decide to do a first ever "Top 11 NHL Outdoor games jerseys." Let's not waste time and get going.

11. Anaheim Ducks

The idea of Anaheim Ducks in orange jersey was always in many fans mind, and every concept artist desire, and dream come to life. But this one is "NIGHTMARE!" Chromed logo, one thin hem stripe with thick side panel, half stripes on the arms, and tilted TV numbers. The only thing good from this disaster jersey is the "OC" shoulder patch, and that's all.

10. New York Islanders

Despite of just the "NY" chromed logo, the nameplate, stretched numbers in the back, tilted numbers, white yoke, and just one hem stripe. This one got an good collar, and the arm stripe is pretty much tamed, not the best, but better then the Ducks.

9. New York Rangers

This one was an disappointment for me, stretched numbers in the back, tilted numbers, one hem stripe, and thick side panel. The arm stripe is messed up in an bad way. The collar, yoke, and the "New York" word mark logo makes up for an not so good jersey that got that "Lady Liberty" feel to it.

8. Pittsburgh Penguins

This one maybe like the others, but it's better then the team's current set. I like the stripes on both arms, and hem. An small vegas gold on the back of the yoke could have gone all the way to the front of the yoke. Finally using the Oilers collar is an good call! Overall: It just an SS jersey, but fix it more and it could be the next set for the team.

7. Chicago Blackhawks

This had everything going, but fell short, stretched numbers in the back, chromed logo, and tilted numbers. But at lease they have hem stripes on it. Overall: If it weren't for stretched numbers in the back, chromed logo, and tilted numbers. This one would be the team's future 3rd.

6. Vancouver Canucks

Last year this was worn by the Canucks, on March 2 the team will wear it again. The jersey is alright but I felt like they should wear their first jersey from the beginning, and cream pants "Not a big fan!" Nothing too much to say about it, moving on.

5. Los Angeles Kings

Out of all Stadium Series jerseys, this team is one of my favorite! The chromed logo really fit this jersey nicely. Grey as the team's main color on this jersey is really an eye catcher. I got nothing to say about this, despite of the tilted TV numbers, this one is an solid SS jersey.

4. Detroit Red Wings

Classic, and nostalgia. The stripes are wisely place, straight nameplate is fine with me, numbers are classy, and the logo pure classic. The downer is the word mark above the logo make it busy, and vintage white, really? Overall: Good WC jersey but two things kept it away from the top 3.

3. New Jersey Devils

Even though the logo is chromed, but glad that this team did not followed the other teams that give jersey collectors an eye sore. Base on the team's first ever set. Overall: Very classic jersey, favorable, and why haven't the team promote it to full time 3rd?

2. Toronto Maple Leafs

 Stripes, stripes, stripes everywhere on this jersey! Despite I hate this team, but you got to give them credit they know how to present classic jerseys nicely. Overall: Nice WC jersey from an team I hate.

I'm going off the record and say that I hate vintage white, such a overrated colored, but this one was used very well done to my taste. An vintage white version of the team's current 3rd jersey. Nice stripes that is well balanced that is simple but great. Overall: Vintage white or true white make it full time road along with the current 3rd as home to replaced the team's current set.

Wednesday: My rant on last night disaster for three teams

Hi everyone sorry for the lack of posting both Monday and Tuesday, mainly because of doing yard work and no idea what post about, but I do now!

But first.

The Wolf Pack Top 5 vote are due Friday May 10 11:59pm EST. 

Well last night was a big disaster for both the Pens, the Habs, and most of all the Canucks.

The Pens really had a hard time with the Islanders and to tell you the truth I didn't expect the Islanders to play this series that good enough to give the Pens a run for their money. I mean the pens are good but the Islanders really up their game and show them that they aren't the 8th seed team to be walk all over. For now I believe this might be going all the way to 7 games, if the Islanders keep their game up.

The Habs made one of the best comeback after last year bad season and now they're on the verge of being eliminate by the Sens. I'm surprised that the Sens were so ready for this team. So we'll see if the Habs can bounce back or the Sens can close this series up.

The Canucks once had 1 win away from winning the Cup now looking back at it no matter how well they played in the seasons yet they played poorly in the playoffs, last year they got "LA Kinged" by the Kings in 5 games, now this year they got swiped by the Sharks in 4, witch brings me to one question "What now?" What the Canucks are going to do? All I can say is review everything, review the players, coaches, GM, everything to see that one (or dozen) flaw(s) in it and fix it so that way not only that they will be good in both seasons and playoffs so they can get where they were the Stanley Cup finals.

So that my rant on those 3 teams that I have to get it out off my head.

Pittsburgh Penguins Concept X2

Well over a year ago in April I made my first concept for this site, it was the Pittsburgh Penguins and knowing now it's been a year since opening the site I've decide to give it a little bit, well kinda, alright, alright a big make over but I did something to try to give me a experience going out of my usual templates and give the NHLUniforms.com template a shot.

Well this was my first shot at the template looks OK to me, but the only problem I got is that I misjudged it, the template is big the main crest and the numbers on the back and NOB were small on this template so this idea was out the window.

So I made this one in my usual template, it almost look like there inaugural '95 alternate jersey, but I gave it some few changes, the first one was switch the grey to gold, add gold to dark gold hem stripe for good measure, and if you look at the Pens crest the gold area it'll change from gold to dark gold.

And that's my Pittsburgh Penguins Concepts hope you all enjoy it until then.

Pittsburgh Penguins Alternate Jersey Concept
